What to expect from counselling

You might be feeling depressed or low, for a known reason or perhaps for no particular reason.  Sometimes it is not possible to speak to your friends or family, you might not want to burden them or you may fear judgement.  You might benefit from speaking to somebody independent.

Embarking on therapy sessions can seem daunting and it does indeed require courage.  Courage not just to accept that you might need some help and support, but also courage to reach out and make the first contact with a counsellor.  Courage is also needed to be open and honest within the therapy session.  I understand this and can offer you a warm, empathic and confidential experience so that together we can work to build your self-awareness and resilience, thereby enabling you to come to a place of greater calm and stability.

My training is in person-centred counselling which means that my clients are viewed very much as individuals with their own specific issues.  I work accordingly to be flexible to each client's needs.

I offer a free 20 minute zoom or telephone call in which to discuss your circumstances and what you are hoping for.

Everything you say to me will be kept strictly confidential in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical Framework.
